Illustrator Takashi Mifune’s drawings may look familiar

Illustration of the planet Earth surrounded by space debris (screws, metal bits with protruding wires, and smaller, unidentifiable shapes).

Takashi Mifune’s illustrations are free to use, and used freely, throughout Japan. Often seen on signage and advertisements, in educational materials, on websites, and in various forms of digital content, their approachable and playful style is unmistakable.

Illustration: a simple side view cutaway of a person's head, facing left, with the brain visible. There is a grey copy of the red and pink brain behind it, and three arrows pointing inward at the smaller pink brain, indicating that it is shrinking.
Illustration: A crow in flight chases a frightened boy.
Illustration: An orange cat in a blue police officer's uniform, stands and salutes in a human pose. He is so cute in his little police hat but he probably wouldn't like it if you pointed that out.
Illustration: A father, child, and mother look at a map. They all have angry expressions on their faces.
An illustration of a person from the shoulders up. They have an unhappy expression on their face. They are wearing a hood that resembles a frog's head, with their face and fringe of hair visible in the round opening of the frog's mouth.

Illustration: A laptop computer is on a desktop, turned away from the viewer. A white seal is seated at the desk, visible from desktop up, and is scowling at a laptop screen.
